Terry Lynn Calvin was born May 20, 1946 in Fulton, MO the youngest of three children of Leon and Lille (Farrell) Calvin. Terry went to be with the Lord at the age of 79 and 2 days on May 22, 2025 at The Grace Space hospice home in Lincoln, NE.
After graduating from Urich High School, Terry earned a bachelor’s and then master’s from Central Missouri State University. In 1968 he married Gayl Jones and they soon settled in Blue Springs, MO where Terry taught, coached and worked as an Athletic Director for 34 years. It was here he called home and where his children were born and raised. Always an avid outdoorsman, Terry loved camping, fishing, hunting, golf, baseball, woodworking, baking and gathering with friends and family. It was family that was most important to him. Spending time with his wife, children, and granddaughters was always his biggest joy and he took every opportunity he could to gather with them on vacation, during holidays or weekend visits.
Terry was greatly involved in various areas of ministry at Timothy Lutheran church including choir, men’s prayer breakfast, Bible studies, board of evangelism and Christian education, an elder as well as church league sports. He had a special relationship with his Lord. He knew from the beginning where his eternal rest would be. He knew that “Jesus paid it all,” as the old song says and that his Lord and Master was preparing a room for him in Heaven. His faith carried him through many difficult situations such as the loss of twin daughters, parents and siblings and his struggles with depression.
Terry is survived by his wife, Gayl, daughter Molly (Nathan) Bassett Lincoln, NE, son Matthew (Jennifer) Calvin Liberty, MO and five granddaughters Hannah (Scott) Neihardt Omaha, NE, Hope (Ethan) Rickords, Hickman, NE, Leah (Brighton) Kollipara, Lincoln, NE Haley and Shelby Calvin, Liberty, MO and his first great granddaughter due August 2025.
