Thomas Allen Swilley, 15, of Pleasant Hill, was born, January 23, 2002, in Blue Springs, the son of Joshua A. and Jennifer L. (Rulon) Swilley. He departed this life Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at his home.
Thomas was a sophomore at the Pleasant Hill High school. He had been active with the Cross Country and was looking forward to playing football in the fall and joining the speech and debate team. He was also an active member of the Boy Scouts Troop #220, Lee’s Summit, and was planning on being a leader at the Boy Scouts National Youth Leader Training program this summer. He enjoyed working out, running, camping, and practicing survival skills. Above all he was a proud Pleasant Hill Rooster.
Thomas is survived by his parents, Josh and Jennifer Swilley of the home; his brother, Nathan Swilley of the home; paternal grandparents, Thomas (and Cynthia) Swilley of Hahira, Georgia, Patricia Spangler, of Castle Rock, Colorado, and step-grandfather, William (and Ellen) Spangler, of Neosho, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Nancy Eldred of Avon, Indiana; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
