Leave it to our father, Virgil Rose, to pass away on the one day of the year, that only comes but once every four years. On February 29, 2016, Virgil Rose passed away at Crown Care in Harrisonville, Missouri. Virgil was born to Margaret and Kenneth Rose on February 10, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Virgil was preceded in death by his second born child, Jerome Rose, both of his parents, and two brothers, Charles Rose, and Kenneth Rose Jr. Also preceding Virgil in death were his first wife, Lora Mae Davolt Rose, and second wife, Patricia Gordon Rose, as well as one great grandchild, Chase Hertlzer.
Virgil leaves behind four children, David Rose, married to Lorri Rose, of Holden, MO, Anne Harp, of Independence, MO, Darryl Rose, of Independence, MO, Tamatha (Tammy) Lizyness, married to William Lizyness, Jr., of Belton, MO, and one brother, Leonard Rose, married to Shirley Rose, of Gladstone, MO. Grandchildren remaining are David (Tamara) Rose, Jeremiah (Erin) Rose, Joshua Rice, Misty (Jason) Foster, Priscilla Hertzler, Tiffany Mae (Carl) Linton and Jessica Lizyness, as well as 14 great grandchildren.
Virgil was in the construction business laying asphalt and cement for the majority of his life. He owned and operated his own business for over 50 years and both his sons David and Darryl worked for him for many years. Virgil knew the value of hard work and tried to instill his work ethic into his children and grandchildren. Virgil’s hobbies included hard work, traveling to Las Vegas in his younger years, old movies and music, and eating some good food. Virgil was not a shy man by any means, could make a friend standing in line, and he seemed to know everyone everywhere he went. He was loved by his family and will be missed greatly.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, Missouri.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.
