Virginia Sue, “Mama Sue”, Buhrman was born August 29th, 1948, in Kansas City, MO to Bill Webster and Anna Mae (McGaughey) Webster. She was raised in the Lawson/Elmira area of Missouri and graduated from Lawson High School in 1967.
Sue met and married her high school sweetheart, Dannie Skinner and welcomed their first two children Dana and Janet. After being widowed at a very young age, she eventually remarried and welcomed a third daughter, Georgia, in 1980. Fortunately, God found a new path for Sue by finding her a new partner, Jack Burhman. They married on May 12th, 2000 and created a wonderful extended family of children, grand children, and great grandchildren.
Everyone including her family, friends, coworkers, and patients, commonly came to know her as “Mama Sue” for her “mothering” and caring ways.
Her passion for working with the elderly led her to a 25+ years career in nursing as a CNA/CMT in nursing home facilities. Her sincere love and respect for the elderly was of upmost importance to her.
She loved crocheting, sewing, reading, bowling, playing various games, spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sue left is on January 9th, 2022. She is survived by her little dog, Sophie, one sister, Carol, her children Dana (Joel), Janet (Mark), Georgia (Andrew), Tracy (Greg), and Bryan. She was blessed to have 8 grand children, and 13 great grandchildren.
Sue will be remembered by all for her generous heart, her funny sense of humor, and her ability to lighten even the darkest moment with a gentle smile or a calming word. She would want people to celebrate the joys and laughter she shared with all instead of the sorrow of a temporary goodbye.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:0 p.m. at the Garden City Community Building, Garden City, Missouri.
