William John Miller of Drexel, MO was born September 29, 1940 in Kansas City, MO the son of Hugh W. and Leona L. (Swayne) Miller. He departed this life on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS surrounded by love and family at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 9 days.
On January 29, 1965, Corky was united in marriage to Evelyn Garnetta Gathagan in Ashtabula, OH.
Corky was employed as an insulator with Heat and Frost Insulators Local #27, Independence, MO until his retirement. He formerly was employed as a meat cutter for Safeway and owned and operated A to Z Home Repair. He was an Army veteran. Corky enjoyed working on motorcycles, riding his trike, remodeling homes, going to the Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends, shooting pool and playing darts. He enjoyed spending the winters in Yuma, AZ. Corky was a dedicated husband, to the love of his life, Evelyn and a dedicated father and grandfather.
Besides his parents, Corky was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Miller, 2 brothers, Pat and Michael Miller; 2 sisters, Joyce Diehl and Mary Callahan.
Corky is survived by his wife, Evelyn Miller of the home; 3 sons, Ogden Miller (Cynthia), Kansas City, MO, William P. Miller (Joann), Overland Park, KS, Chat Miller (Susan), Harrisonville, MO; a daughter, Leona Herman, Lane, KS; 6 grandchildren, Jason (Billie Jo), Sarah (Larry), Derick, Austin (Bianca), Ryan (Chely), Michael; 10 great-grandchildren; Owen, Cash, Barrett, Melody, Rhoda, Mateo, Issabella, Nasheili, Graceson and Canaan; 2 brothers, Chuck Miller, Vallejo, CA, Jim Miller, Lake Viking, MO; 2 sisters, JoAnn Thomason, Sevierville, TN, Sharon Oliphant, Kansas City, KS; a host of extended family and friends.
Cremation. A Celebration of Life Service has been rescheduled to 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2022 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville with Military Honors to follow the service.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2022 at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
