William Arthur “Bill” Covey, Sr., 88, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, was born, September 14, 1928, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Frank and Alice (Dougherty) Covey. He departed this life, Sunday, May 14, 2017, at the Pleasant Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Bill was a 1946 North Kansas City High School graduate.
On April 5, 1947, he was united in marriage to Martha Naomi Cunningham in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him death on April 3, 2009, after 61 years of marriage.
Bill was employed as a Pest control operator for the Presto-X-Company in Omaha for over 30 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Wheeler Presbyterian church in Omaha for over 50 years. He was actively involved with the Boys Scouts of America, Omaha Fish & Wildlife Club. He was also a 32 Degree Master Mason and a member of the Ararat Shrine Temple. He enjoyed fishing, Yankee’s baseball, and was an avid Nebraska Football fan.
Bill was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Covey; one brother, Paul Covey; and one sister, Marguerite Hastings.
He is survived by his daughter, Naomi Downey of Pleasant Hill; his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Cindy Covey, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, at the Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, Missouri.
