William "Bill" Russell Davis, of Independence, Missouri was born August 12, 1940, in Garden City, Missouri the son of Rollie Vernon "Bill" and Stella Jane (Nation) Davis. He departed this life on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 18 days.
On January 13, 1962, Bill was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Riffle in Kansas City, Missouri. They were an inseparable team for more than 54 years and deeply committed to their family.
Bill was a carpet layer by trade for 34 years and retired from Riffle Carpet. He had a passion for farming as well as fixing things that couldn't be fixed. He was a deacon and member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church, Latour, Missouri who enjoyed being involved in special projects. A man of few words, but when he spoke, you better listen.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Davis and two sisters, Lela Docktor and Gearldine Gray.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Davis of the home; oldest daughter, Becky Soetaert and husband Tommie and granddaughters Ashley and Tiffanie; youngest daughter, Rhonda French and husband Brian and two grandsons, Logan and Alex, all of Lee's Summit, Missouri; as well as many other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who love him.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Latour, Missouri.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House, Rose Hill Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
